VegaStream is pleased to announce the availability of Software Release 8.5. This has some significant developments in enhancing SIP trunking Functionality, Interoperability, Resiliency and Security.

It has also introduced SIP trunking for Microsoft Office Communications Server.

Enhanced Network Proxy
The VRP (Vega Resilient Proxy) has been improved and renamed Enhanced Network Proxy (ENP). This will allow SIP trunking for Microsoft Office Communications Server as it will convert TCP to UDP.

Interoperability Features

  • Three Way Calling
  • Call Forwarding
  • Do Not Disturb
  • QSIG Message Waiting Indication
  • QSIG Un-Tromboning
  • Executive Interrupt
  • FXS 8km Drive
  • SIP Call Waiting Messaging
  • GSM Codec Support
  • DTMF Readback of IP Parameters
The VegaStream gateways can read back the values of key IP parameters using a phone connected to any FXS port.
  • Music On Hold
  • TSM B Channel in SIP
tdm (ISDN/POTS) B channel interface information can be included in SIP messages using 'P-Access-Network-Info' headers.
  • Overlap Dialling
Outgoing call setup using overlap dialling is now supported for the following call types:
    • TDM to SIP
    • SIP to TDM
    • TDM to TDM
  • UDP/TCP Control
The transport type for SIP messages can now be specified for each SIP profile on the gateway individually. Addtionally the ENP (SIP proxy) can be configured to use TCP or UDP for "ITSP call routing" and "PSTN gateway call routing".

Resilience & Security Features

DSL Failover Relays Control SIP Registration
Applies to: Vega 400 with ISDN fallback relays

The status of the ISDN fallback relays can now optionally determine if SIP registration takes place on a Vega 400 (models where ISDN fallback relays are fitted).

SNMP Version 3
SNMP version is now supported on all Vega gateways. SNMPv3 is an extension to SNMPv1 providing security (encryption, authentication and access control) aswell as some extensions to SNMP handling.

SIP TLS
Vega gateways can now be configured to use TLS as the transport for SIP messaging, see Vega Primer, available at www.VegaAssist.com for more information

SRTP
Vega gateways can now be configured to use SRTP (Secure Real Time Protocol) rather than RTP for media, see Vega Primer, available at www.VegaAssist.com for more information.
